Deschutes River Rafting Trip
This 45 mile 3-day rafting trip down the Deschutes River in Oregon over Memorial Day weekend is the highlight of the year for many Scouts and adults. The Troop charters a bus to ferry us down to Madras, Oregon where we spend Friday night before hitting the river on Saturday morning. We spend Saturday, Sunday and most of Monday rafting. We use a combination of gear boats (to transport gear between campsites), paddle boats (rafts for 5 to 8 people) and inflatable kayaks to float the river. On flat parts of the river between class 2, 3 and 4 rapids we enjoy a healthy dose of watergun fights.
$225 per person for the first two members from each family, $275 for each third family member, and $350 for guests and others. (make checks payable to "Troop 72") (scholarships are available, email the Scoutmaster for more information
Scouts must have completed First Aid Merit Badge and Swimming Merit Badge in order to participate.
